Yet a 102% increase (Inflation Adjusted) in cost over same time period
Note: some school district has invested in running a dis-information campaign. They refute the math CSAP scores, asking how could the kids pass if they have not had pre-algebra yet. A better question is why have they not had what they need to succeed academically. The CSAP was written to measure actual learning versus an accepted standard. JCPS leaders state their scores are better than some other districts. Should we settle for that low bar? A large portion of our education system is broken, yet thankfully in Colorado we have a chance to fix our little part of the world.
Spin Check: JEFFCO R-1 "status-quo" supporters routinely state one of the reason for the schools achievement (lack of) is lack of parent involvement. That drum continually beats. Jeffco R-1 performs a recurring student survey called "Make Your Voice Heard" . On page six there is an overview of a question asked of the students anonymously. It states -... Nearly all respondents indicate that their parents have high expectations of them. Question - My parents …. … expect me to behave at school … expect me to learn. … expect me to read at home. … help me learn. On all four the lowest percentage in agreement was 92.5% . A new question was added this year “My parents expect me to graduate from high school” Maybe they do not like their own survey. We agree student involvement is critical and are sure in some cases there is none. But let’s not take an easy out and blame the parents for the following test scores. More plausible is the parents did help the students with the material provided. If the required material for that grade level is not sent home, how is that the parents fault?
How are we doing in Jefferson County District R-1?
We have included all the public High Schools
